Remember when

Remember when
Elvis did not have to watch his weight
And I had no name for turning up late

(please feel free to add your own triplet as a comment to continue the poem!)

Remember when
The summers were sunny and hot
And playing with friends was your lot

Good one, F. I remember that lot in life very well (wistful sigh). I'm at home now for St. Patrick's and Easter - a two week stretch! I hope to see you sometime, if you've got time whenever you're off.

wow - 2 weeks - that's great! I'm off to see eimear in england tomorrow for a couple of days...am off easter monday and tuesday (at a wedding on the monday) but otherwise dying for a reunion and a catch-up. hope you are well and happy patron saint's day.

Happy St. Patrick's to you too. I hope you enjoy England, and have a good time with Eimear. You can tell her that Liam says Gerry Anderson is a big fan of hers according to his radio show. And apparently her new song is very good. Hope to meet up most likely after that wedding then. Peter, Liam, Damian and myself are going to Ballycastle for two or three nights during Easter week, mostly likely from Tuesday. By the way, I recently had two phones, and by a strange quirk of fate I now have no working phone - I'll tell you the funny story soon - so please be in touch via Liam's phone. Take care on your escapades.

Hi Essie - how's things?
Did you hear that Chiara Lubich died? (Hope spelling ok) - in Rome before Easter...I read an article today about her and Focolare. Talk to you soon my friend, Effie.

Hi F, yes I heard just a few days ago about the death of Chiara Lubich. It was a shock, and it was also strange as I didn't hear until a few weeks after it happened. I don't why I thought I would find out more quickly than that, but I was sorry not to hear earlier. So thanks for letting me know yourself too. It really shouldn't hvae been such a surprise as she was eighty-eight, and yet I never really thought of her as old - funny.

To have lost Brother Roger and her within a few years changes my world a bit. I hope their movements don't lose their direction. I read her words in the word of life when I was at Queens,at Milltown, at Newman, and more recently here. They were a sort of anchor, and always so insightful, so I will miss her encouraging words especially.

And on that theme, I miss your encouraging words too, my old friend - less of the old I hear you cry. So I'm certainly up for a natter soon. Stiofain MiFrogan

Remember when
i wrote improvising sensations
and was greeted with your salutations

I read the article about Chiara in the free Catholic paper - Alive - I also noticed an article on Edith Stein (part of a series I think) - funny how this little paper made me think of you with all those familiar names in it...!
Talk to you soon froggit.

That was a great little triplet, Emily, and yes, I remember those heady days well! I'm very glad to see your cyber garden in bloom again. I've missed it too. I like your new poem there. It's you all over.

Fionnuala, this interval between our meetings is growing and growing, I fear interminably. Say it isn't so! We must meet up in Belfast one of these weekends. Thanks for keeping me in mind. Liam is down in the house now, so it's all change on the Western Front. He's going to get me to improve my game! Don't ask what game?

Fionnuala said...

Actually instead of asking 'what game' I was going to ask 'what house'? Has he moved?
F. (improve the game anyway, whatever it may be)

Yes, F, he's moved into my house in Maynooth. He's just started a job at JP Morgan Chase in Dublin. Will our friendship survive ...?
