Some pomes

Advice

(a philosopher’s disclaimer)

Take my advice and don’t
Do as I say;
I won’t be able to
Be blamed that way.
Or do do what I say,
Imperfectly though;
Then you’ll be unfit to
Upcast me so.
Or follow completely
Just if you must -
It won’t be my fault if
Formulae bust.

Keeping the ball

Come in, be still, and know
Life kills with a ruthless equality
Come in, be still, and know
In my divine justice I don’t give back

In the gutter

May hopeless heartbreak flow in the rain
Without a rainbow into that hallowed drain.

Inspiration

a touch
tastes and sounds eternally new
the soul’s entire capacity
appears too beautiful to me

the world
too huge for an eye to contain
too much for a mind to conceive
too hard to look upon and leave

Your eyes
blue windows of your soul and sight
what remains after fears are stripped?
the purest smile on angel lips?

true art
magnificent beauty in relief
the love of beauty grows in art
humanity’s God’s beating heart
