the good die young

i think i'll close down the old bloggerooney. it seems like the right time. here's one last poem, which i wrote six years ago when i was more overtly religious.

calling time

god is conspicuous by his absence
the absence of a smile
the presence of a loved one
walking a lonely mile

he is sought by the eyes of the dying
no energy to cry
the lethargy of a son
blinking, wondering why

he’s not found in the cries of the prophets
screaming divinity
but in an infant’s laughter
redeems humanity

so, hanging in front of the door of my old shop,
the sign, which creaks as it swings,

'after 42 years of business,
we're closing.
we have loved being part
of your lives.'

don't worry bradley......... I will now take on the mantle of spewing out the biggest load of crap known to man....... Next weeks instalment will see the launch of new autobiography "Square peg in a round hole: the life and loves of Liam McAuley" (a romantic comedy starring yours truly on a desert island, with only a mecanno set for company and conversation; based on my best selling autobiography. currently retails for £39.99, yours for only £2.50! also, another best seller from my shelves is a violent, erotic thriller entitled "How to brass off a crap Scottish band by making sordid, sexual innuendos at them"
