Sick as a parrot

Hi guys and gals, I'm signing on to let you feel sorry for me, one of the finer feelings. I'm sick again only worse. I have a viral infection in my throat and it's painful to swallow, so I've come home to watch old comedy programmes and look pretty eating cooling ice-cream, one of the few things I could manage to get down over the last day. Paracetamol keeps the fever down and the more severe pain away from the door. It's also the reason I have this attitude of universal benevolence as I write. Still you should feel sorry for me. But I suppose it does serve me right for being all pretentious (moi?) about democracy and all. The viri don't like that. Talk to you, in a sexy gravelly voice, again sometime soon. I enclose a picture to give you an idea of the love and affection I'm expecting ...

I can sympathise! I'm off sick too! Watched Serendipity this afternoon and thought of you - only to find you are sick also! Get well soon, A.

You poor thing! In that case, ignore the email I sent earlier about meeting up on Thursday.
And Fionnuala - sorry to hear you're sick too!
As for the picture, well, as my angel's wings are in for repair for the time being, I won't volunteer to be the one to comfort you. Please accept my warmest good-health vibes wafting your direction instead.
Yours in disgusting health,
Cliona

Thank you loving and affectionate friends, with or without wings. I'm sorry to hear you're sick as well Fionnuala. I hope it's not too serious and that you get well soon, dear writer. I was thinking about the book today and am going to get serious with a detectives flip notepad any minth now. 'Minth?' Yes, that's what I said, Cato, Minth. I'm feeling a little less pain in the throat and can eat more. Whoever gets well first should pay a visit to the other one.
Liam came down last night but didn't bring any grapes, so I sent him away again. Well, i suppose that was a lie. He said nobody else must care about me. Good to see he's wrong!
I did respond to that email you sent, ClĂona, thinking you were being particularly exacting expecting me to honour meet-ups even when sick. But know oi-see. And hopefully we can meet up soon next week. So thanks for the moral support.
I really do hope you feel better Fionnuala. Take some Vitamins yourself. I can recommend C. With some juniper berries. And a little alcohol.

Hi Stephen
Guess there's a lot of unwellness about. I had an operation two weeks ago and am off work until mid February.
When yur better you must come and visit the new residence. I will get grapes in.
Shalom
Dominic

Heh Dominic, great to hear from you. Sorry to hear you haven't been well in a more serious way. I hope everything went well and that you are convalescing well. I was thinking of you when I was at home over Christmas, but didn't get to do much. I definitely would like to pay you a visit, maybe by the weekend if I'm better. Peace to you too brother.

My apologies Stephen. My message was very selfish. All about me. I hope yur viri are behaving themselves and the ice-cream is doing the trick. If not, enjoy the ice-cream anyway.
Quite often there seems to be some positive side to adversity. You have your ice-cream and I have time off work to catch up on personal admin. and send e-mails to my friends. I don't know if you have read a book called "Finding Courage" by Joy Carol. It is full of uplifting stories from people who have suffered terrible hardships and yet discover some surprising gifts.
I wish you gifts in your recovery and look forward to meeting up with you again. Can't wait to hear that sexy voice. You are most welcome to visit anytime over the next four weeks as I will be housebound.
Respect
Dominic

Thanks Dom, I'm laughing and blushing - a most pleasant sensation! (I knew i shouldn't have went with that angel and ice-cream motive...) Anyway, I don't have to look too far for upsides, as all you guys got in touch, and we both hadn't chatted for a while. So I'm looking forward to see you and talk to you soon; but I have to warn you that I'll be very butch and won't talk about anything but sport and off-colour jokes for two hours. (huh)
